Success 101 in Movies

One of our exercises at the Master Key Experience this week (14) was to watch one of the following movies (which are all based on true stories): ‘Mully’, ‘October Sky’, ‘Cool Runnings’, ‘The Good Lie’, ‘Wild’, ‘Door to Door’, ‘Rudy’, while identifying the four habits of success which I wrote about in this blog post.

DMP: Definite Major Purpose (backed by a burning desire)
PMA: Positive Mental Attitude
POA: Plan of Action
MMA: Master Mind Alliance

I watched all the movies and I have chosen to write about the first one I saw, ‘Rudy’ – a movie about the life of Daniel Ruettiger, who dreamt of playing American football at the University of Notre Dame.

First of all I want to recommend this movie to anyone who hasn’t seen it! I was very moved by the story and how Rudy never gave up on his dream, in spite of several obstacles along the way. Very inspirational! It’s available on Netflix, Prime, and even for rent on YouTube.

Spoiler alert! Watch the movie before you read the rest.

Rudy’s definite major purpose (DMP) was clearly to play football, and not just anywhere but at the Notre Dame University. His DMP was backed by a burning desire, even if he didn’t really have the physique (he was quite small for a football player), nor did he have the grades required to get into Notre Dame, nor the money for tuition, nor the support from his family and friends, except his buddy Pete (his first master mind alliance) – who was killed in an accident at their workplace.

It is obvious throughout the movie that Rudy indeed had a Positive Mental Attitude. He did not give up no matter what life threw at him, and he did not listen to those who told him that his dream was not only impossible but even ridiculous! He is not discouraged when he gets rejected by Notre Dame at first, but continues to study to improve his grades.

For Rudy to achieve his DMP, his POA (Plan of Action) is to play football from an early age throughout high school. In order to get into Notre Dame, he needs to save up money (POA) and to improve his grades (POA) he gets enrolled at Holy Cross College with the help from a priest (Rudy’s 2nd master mind alliance). At Holy Cross he befriends teacher assistant D-Bob – Rudy’s 3rd master mind alliance. Rudy is broke and homeless, he approaches the head ground keeper at the Notre Dame stadium who eventually offers him a job (POA) there and also a place to live. The ground keeper turns out to be a former football player and is Rudy’s 4th master mind alliance.

Rudy continues to work on his grades (POA) despite of three letters of rejection from Notre Dame. When he finally gets in, he gets on the team as a practise roster (POA) and never misses a single practise in two years (POA). He keeps giving what is best for the team (POA + Law of Giving), and it finally pays off when he gets to dress for the last game that season. The team is his major master mind alliance – they all want Rudy to dress, and they all want him to play. Had it not been for the master mind alliance of his team, the coach would not have allowed Rudy to play at all, but eventually he does and after the game Rudy is carried out in victory by his team members.

I found it very interesting to watch all these movies with the DMP, PMA, POA, and MMA in mind, and I will continue to do so when I watch other movies.

These four habits of success are methods we are learning and applying at the Master Key Experience, so that we, too, can fulfil our dreams – our Definite Major Purpose – no matter how impossible or ridiculous they might seem to other people.

I certainly have a DMP (definite major purpose) backed by a burning desire, I have a Plan Of Action, a predominant PMA (positive mental attitude), and I have a supportive MMA (master mind alliance) who helps me to stay on track.

Grateful for Gratefulness!

What if you woke up tomorrow with only what you were grateful for today?

How’s that for a kick-in-the-butt reminder!?

A couple of years ago I bought a journal where I was supposed to write down three things I was grateful for every single day. The problem was that I really could not think of anything to be grateful for other than my dog and my boyfriend…. Well, things have certainly changed since then. Actually, “things” haven’t changed that much – but I have changed!

Nowadays, the daily habit of writing down three things I’m grateful for is a breeze. I can easily name thousands of things, circumstances, or people that I’m grateful for. And I mean truly grateful, not just saying it but being truly grateful.

If you read my blog post last week, you know I was about to keep a promise – which was to have the text for my children’s book done by the 22nd of December. I am GRATEFUL that I persisted and kept that promise! I finished it on Sunday the 20th, two days before my self-imposed deadline. I am making some 20+ illustrations for that book, which will take a few months. I am grateful to be an author. I absolutely LOVE my job! I used to get paid for writing articles, which was nice. But writing books that can inspire and bring joy to the readers is my passtion. I am deeply grateful that I get to do that.

More than anything, I am grateful for gratefulness. I am grateful that I AM grateful for so many things. I am grateful for my attitude of gratitude.

I Always Keep My Promises!

I have decided not to spend much time blogging this week. I have a self-imposed deadline to meet, and when I make a deadline for myself that’s a promise.

I have promised to finish the text for my children’s book by the 24th of December. I have plans all day for the 23rd … meaning I need to get the text done no later than the 22nd.

So with no further delay, I better get back to work!

The 4 Habits of Success

We don’t have to invent the wheel. For centuries, great minds have done the research for us and they have proved what works. Several books have been written on the topic, the most popluar being ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill. The FOUR HABITS he discovered are essential for success in all walks of life, not just financial riches. ALL walks of life.

These 4 habits convert dreams into physical realities.

The Four Habits of Success

  1. A definite major purpose, backed by a earnest and burning desire.
  2. A definite plan, expressed in continuous action.
  3. A predominant positive attitude.
  4. A friendly alliance (aka Mastermind), people who encourage you to follow through with plan and purpose.

Short version:

1. DMP (Definite Major Purpose)
2. PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)
3. POA (Plan of Action)
4. MMA (Master Mind Alliance)

Most people don’t have a clue what their purpose is. The Master Key Experience helps people figure it out. Not only that, but we’re given easy to do mental exercises to make sure we learn how to apply all the 4 habits and live the life of our dreams. Knowledge does not apply itself. You gotta do the work, the mental labour. But it’s worth it.

Oh, boy, is it worth it!!

Today is My Birthday!

WEEK 10 MKE (Reposted from 4. December 2019)

On the 4th of December 1966, my mother gave birth to a beautiful baby.

This child was such a precious golden nugget! Life was good.
For a while.

Life threw me a few curve balls and the golden child slowly faded away, until you could barely see her inner twinkle…. The gold was still there, though! Just hidden under layers of mud, much of it hard as cement. (The metaphor of the cement and Golden Buddha is explained in one of my previous posts)

Let’s not dwell on the past. Bygones! I have forgiven the “mud-slingers”. They, too, were once a “Golden Buddha” and whatever wrongs they said and did to me were simply due to the mud they were covered by. But underneath all that is the golden nugget of perfection that they used to be … Forgiving is easy when I remind myself of that.

As the weeks go by on this amazing journey with the Master Key Experience, I’m chipping off more and more of that cemented mud covering my own golden nugget.

Today is my birthday and I am celebrating a new life!
A new and GOOD life!

My Definite Major Purpose in life was previously nothing but a dream. Today it is a plan and I have full faith that it will happen the way I think and feel about it, visualise it, and focus on it.

My dream was big, but my plan is HUGE!

Abundance is a natural law of the Universe. The evidence of this law is conclusive; we see it on every hand. Everywhere Nature is lavish, wasteful, extravagant. Nowhere is economy observed in any created thing. Profusion is manifested in everything. The millions and millions of trees and flowers and plants and animals and the vast scheme of reproduction where the process of creating and recreating is forever going on, all indicates the lavishness with which Nature has made provision for man. That there is an abundance for everyone is evident, but that many fail to participate in this abundance is also evident; they have not yet come into a realisation of the Universality of all substance, and that mind is the active principle whereby we are related to the things we desire.

Charles Haanel, Master Key System, 10.1

Today is my birthday and I am deeply grateful to be alive! Today I am celebrating my present life and my future! And I know my future will be WONDERFUL!!

My new affirmation, which I repeat several times a day:

Fast forward to 2020:

One year later and it’s still my birthay today, imagine that 😉 I have many reasons to celebrate for things that have happened in the year that has passed, but more than anything I celebrate the fact that I am alive! Every day is a gift and I am a very grateful receiver.
